While we all want to believe that humans are clever enough to have evolved into the Homo sapiens that we are now as a result of hard work and deep thinking; history has demonstrated the evolution of humans has been heavily dependent on random events, that have created exponential step-changes in our evolution.
Covid-19 is one of those changes that has prompted changes in our society and the way we work.
Let’s have a look at a few examples:
Open source collaboration
There are a number of 3D designs from hospital ventilators to face shields for front-line workers. This collaboration has resulted in a far quicker response to the PPE shortages experienced around the world.
Data sharing
The development of a vaccine is evolving several factors above the pace previously. This is a direct result of sharing test case data between countries.
Remote working
Not everyone will continue to work from home but there has been evidence of drastically reduced pollution and increased health. It has proven that many jobs can be performed remotely, which could ironically be an alignment of the green lobby and the economics.
